VAVUNIYA: ARMY authorities at OMANTHAI Entry/Exit point are now in the process of identifying twenty-five corpses, said to be those belonging to valiant troops after those remains were brought to the point by officials of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as the dusk fell on Thursday (18).

The Army has so far identified only eighteen of them since some of them were badly mutilated or injured. However, the Army is to decide on the remaining seven soon after preliminary investigations are over. All of them sacrificed their lives during pitched battles that raged in the WANNI theatre of war during the past few days.
Meanwhile, Army troops delivered one dead body of a Tiger to the ICRC around the same time on Thursday (18)

across the OMANTHAI Entry/Exit point. Fifteen more Tigers killed in the fighting and scheduled to be delivered to the ICRC still remain at VAVUNIYA hospital.
